Announcing VR World Congress

Announcing VR World Congress

Following February’s hugely successful SouthWest VR, organiser Opposable VR is proud to announce the newly renamed VR World Congress, a bigger and better event set to take place on the 12th of April, 2016.

As a hub for Virtual Reality in the UK, and a historically creative city in its own right, VR World Congress will take place in Bristol at the Marriott Hotel City Centre.

The name change comes as a result of Opposable’s grander vision for Virtual Reality in the UK, Europe and beyond. SouthWest VR was the biggest VR conference in the UK, but Opposable is aiming for greater heights in 2016 with a venue that can support up to 600 attendees.

VR World Congress will host the biggest names and brands in VR and technology. So far the speaker lineup includes representatives from AMD, nDreams, Frontier Developments, Lloyd Digital and Opposable VR, with many more to be announced soon.

These guests will speak across two separate talk tracks: a headline track focusing on the bigger picture of VR, sharing experiences and insights. The alternative tech track will consist of in-depth tech talks, ideal for developers looking to expand their skillset.

As well as these two comprehensive talk tracks, VR World Congress will also feature a huge dedicated expo hall where the world’s best VR developers will be showing off their latest and most impressive experiences. Confirmed are Frontier Developments, Tammeka Games, Opposable VR and nDreams. Expect more confirmations very soon.

nDreams VP of Marketing David Corless said: “SWVR 2015 was a great opportunity to hear from and meet some of the brightest minds in the VR space. It also allowed us to discover new talent and product, not just in games but from across the whole spectrum of VR applications. Looking towards 2016 we think it makes sense sense for SWVR to take a more global outlook and look forward to attending in its new form as the VR World Congress.”

As an opportunity for VR developers and enthusiasts to network, learn, and build partnerships, VR World Congress will be unmatched. The Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR are slated to drop in the first half of 2016, while the consumer editions of the HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR will have been on the market for several months. This makes the VR World Congress a perfect opportunity to observe the market.

Conference organiser Dan Page said “It’s great to finally announce our new conference, last year was a blast but I can’t wait to turn things up to 11 for 2016. Watch this space for announcements as we’re in talks with some seriously awesome people around the globe.”

Opposable VR has also opened submissions for more speakers to join the current line-up. Opposable is looking for a range speakers from across the virtual and augmented reality industry, so get in touch with organiser Dan Page if you are interested - dan.page@opposablegames.com.

VR World Congress is headline sponsored by AMD and its LiquidVR™ technology. AMD designs and integrates technology that powers millions of intelligent devices, including Virtual Reality HMDs. AMD's LiquidVR™ technology is aimed at enabling a fully immersive and comfortable virtual reality experience by creating a new programming model that fully exploits the capabilities of modern GPUs, like AMD Radeon™ products.

You can buy tickets for the event, and find more information, on the VR World Congress website. Opposable will be announcing more speakers, exhibitors and sponsors as we get closer to April 12th.
